About
In this new episode of the Luxury Podcast, I had the pleasure of welcoming Mickaël Guenoun, CEO of Baume & Mercier.
A nearly two-hundred-year-old house, known for having accompanied entire generations through their most beautiful moments in life — weddings, achievements, handovers.
A sincere, inspiring, and profoundly human exchange about how to reinvent a legend without ever distorting it.
From psychology to entrepreneurship, then to the leadership of watchmaking houses
Graduating in psychology, Michael Guenon began his career as an entrepreneur in consulting and recruitment before turning to watchmaking and international markets.
Back in Europe, he joined the Richemont Group, before taking the lead of the multi-brand concept TimeVallée before becoming, in 2023, CEO of Baume & Mercier.
A unique journey, guided by curiosity, humanity, and a love for beauty.
A house born in 1830… and always in motion
Founded in 1830 in the Swiss Jura by two visionary brothers, Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume, the house has undergone nearly 195 years of history without ever interrupting its activity.
A rarity in Swiss watchmaking, which testifies to its resilience and its loyalty to its values :
"Never let anything slip by, only make watches of the highest quality."
The Art of Balance: the signature of just luxury
Under Michael's leadership, the house claims a distinct positioning: that of just luxury, sincere and balanced.
The balance between art and technique, between heritage and modernity.
This dialogue takes form in the Baumatic movement — a masterpiece of precision and independence:
5 days of autonomy,
exceptional magnetic resistance,
certified chronometric precision,
and an 8-year warranty, a symbol of trust and durability.
A movement that perfectly illustrates the house's philosophy:
to create watches that last, to accompany the moments that matter.
A house of heart above all
At Baume & Mercier, watchmaking is above all an affair of emotion.
Each watch tells a story, often linked to a passage in life — a legacy, a handover, a memory.
With 1,400 points of sale worldwide, custom events and a proximity-centered approach, the house cultivates this rare intergenerational bond, where the client becomes an extension of the house itself.
What you will discover in this episode
The unique journey of Michael Guenoun, the CEO of the house
How to bring nearly 200 years of history to life while remaining contemporary
The secrets of the Baumatic movement, symbol of independence and excellence
The philosophy "Art of Balance", between tradition and innovation
